Spectrophotometric Intracutaneous Analysis (SIA™) utilizes discrete wavelengths of light, scanned into living tissue, causing the different components of the tissue to interact with each wavelength in different ways. By accurately measuring the quantity of light which is reflected from the tissue, it is possible to deduce the location and concentration of each different component: Total Melanin, Dermal Melanin, Blood and Collagen.
