|Pleasanton, CA -- June 16, 2003 -- AllMed Systems, Inc. announced today that they will be distributing and supporting the SIAscope™ II in the western states of the USA.|
SIAscope™ II, which is manufactured by Astron Clinica U.K., has been widely accepted as the market leader in the screening and detection of melanoma, with unique technology that allows the physician to visualize the concentrations of melanin, hemoglobin and collagen in the papillary dermis.
SIAgraphs are made up from over 350,000 data points of an 11mm by 11mm area of the skin. According to Peter Allen, President of AllMed Systems, Inc., "Now that the SIAscope II has been granted FDA approval, Physicians in the USA will be able to obtain the same unique technology that European Physicians have been using for the last few years."
In 1999, Astron Clinica revolutionized the dermoscopy market with the introduction of the SIAscope™, a system that enabled physicians to take multiple SIAgraphs and record on a database for each patient. SIAgraphs have improved the accuracy in the diagnosis of melanoma. Since then the system has been reduced in size, it is now the size of a briefcase, and can be easily transported between clinics.
